The Z06 Convertible by Genaddi Design GroupPress release on the Structural Chassis System and the new Corvette Z06 Convertible Rarely is a new idea really a “new” idea. Such is the case of Genaddi Design Group’s new product, the Structural Chassis System. CEO/President Mark Gerisch of the company has struck on something that has plagued the automotive industry up until this point. The problem? How to make a “factory car” handle and have the ability to be rigid enough as a convertible but perform like a race car? Taking bits and pieces from the racing world and aeronautics community, Mark realized that a product could be produced for specific applications that would give the same performance and benefits of a full-on race car chassis, with just a piece of the puzzle. Developing a product that can make your car perform like this at a relatively low cost and time to install was a stroke of genesis. This system is easily installed onto the bottom of the car in a driveway; with the proper tools, and it is light enough that it seems inconceivable that it works so well. In product development, Mark’s thoughts that drove him to the idea, were on making the application fit different cars and trucks that needed a stiffer chassis; like just about anything pushing 500 plus HP, or cars that want to be convertible’s; like four door cars. From Mark’s work with the Ford GTX1, (a limited edition roadster of the Ford GT Supercar that Ford SVT commissioned Mark to build), the added torsional structure made the car handle better and feel stronger. It was apparent that the same principles could work for any car or truck. Building a product that is much more in the reach of the average enthusiast for more main stream cars as opposed to full on race cars or expensive exotics like the Ferrari Enzo or Porsche Carrara GT (both vehicles with complete composite chassis), was the driving force Mark needed. The first car to receive the system, other than the Ford GT Supercar, is the 2007 C6-Z06 Corvette of Mark’s. Mark knew from discussions with Corvette directly, that they would never offer a convertible Z06, as it went the opposite direction for them to be the ultimate performance car, until now. What they meant by this statement, was that the car flexes so badly when the top panel is removed, that it cannot be reinstalled. The aluminum chassis of the Z06 relies on the triangulated structure of the top to keep it perfectly in alignment under stress of performance driving. The “new” Genaddi Design Group Structural Chassis System doubles the stock torsional rigidity of the car making the handling far superior because of the rigidity of the chassis. Now you can have America’s Supercar, the Z06 Corvette, as a power top convertible. All the parts necessary to change the car to a convertible are right out of the Chevrolet parts catalog- so the fit, finish and operation of the power top system are factory perfect. You can have the best designed suspension geometry, the best shocks and springs, and the grippiest tires on the planet but if the chassis, (the main building block from where all parts extend), from moving under load is deficient, then it throws every good effort out the window and you are left with whatever the chassis is limited to. In other cases, with more HP it puts stress on the chassis. The original chassis was not designed to handle the stress and will actually twist the entire car. Your horsepower and highest performance expectations can all be corrected by installing the Structural Chassis System from Genaddi Design Group on your car. The “new” Z06 convertible with the Structural Chassis System will be unveiled to the press this year outside at the Dupont Registry Booth at SEMA, by none other than Tom Dupont himself. After the unveiling, at the Dupont site you will see the car on display, lifted high enough to see the installed system on our working prototype. Additionally, to get a closer look at the system, please see Genaddi Design Group entry in the “new products” display area and visit Genaddi Design Group’s booth #50435 showcasing the Structural Chassis System and talk personally with representatives of Genaddi Design Group about this and future applications at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas Convention Center, October 30th-November 2nd, 2007 or call Genaddi Design Group directly (920) 242-4563 for more information.
